8-12-20   THOUGHTS

In conversation yesterday, my dear wife mentioned the 119th psalm.  For 176 verses, David extols the value, the beauty, the wonderfulness of God’s information to man.  He basically says that without God’s WORD we are nothing and with God’s WORD we are everything.  Importantly though, David’s JOYFUL DESIRE and POSITIVE CONVICTION of the RIGHTNESS of ABSORBING GOD’S WORD TOTALLY, is continually apparent as we read. He’s almost like a kid in a candy store with a bunch of money.  It is GOD’S HOUSE OF WISDOM, and he’s there to grab all he can get!
Prov 23:23     Buy truth, and do not sell [it, Get] wisdom and instruction and understanding.
Isa 55:1-3    "Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost. 2  "Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. 3  "Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David.

So here is a sample of the 119 Psalm:
Psalms 119:9-16   How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.  10  With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. 11  Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. 12   Blessed are You, O LORD; Teach me Your statutes. 13  With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Your mouth. 14  I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. 15  I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. 16  I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.

Depending on your translation, we note some KEY words:
testimonies - law -  precepts - statutes -  commandments -  judgments - Your word

John 12:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
I believe with all my heart that in Psalms 119, David sets the KEY for our dying.  Not the actual dying, but to all that tells us how to die!  We all want “MORE LIFE”!   David is telling us how to find that!

My Prayer:
Oh Lord God, thank you for revealing your great mind to us.  Give us delight in the pursuit of your word.  Excite our souls toward the bread of life.  Feed us continually with real food.  We seek the joy of your salvation Oh God, satisfy us.  Help us learn to die that we might truly live.
In Jesus blessed name                   Amen
